Human-Computer Interaction

Coronary Artery Training

This project is already assigned.

Background

Currently, knowledge about angiography of coronary arteries is taught using simulators and through frontal teaching. Simulators such as the Angio Mentor ( ANGIO Mentor - Simbionix, n.d.) or CAE CathLabVR ( CathLabVR Cardiac Surgical Simulator - CAE Healthcare, n.d.) allow physicians to practice placing a cardiac catheter without endangering the patient. Supervised use of cardiac catheterization simulators shows that the skills learned can help with a real procedure. In particular, physicians without experience can greatly benefit from them (Bagai et al., 2012). However, simulators are very costly and not mobile to be borrowed. Therefore, the question arises whether some of the simulation can be used from home to allow for more flexible and intensive learning.

Tasks

The task is to become familiar with the topic and the existing work. Furthermore, the interactive app is to be further developed, evaluated, and a didactic training is to be performed using the app. Finally, the results are to be evaluated and presented. Evaluation and training will be the main part of the project.
