Gestic and Facial Animations - Testing Body-Awareness in an Immersive 3D Environment
This project is already completed.

Body Image Disturbance is a concept, where people have a rather big mismatch between their actual weight and what they think they weigh. As VR offers a big therapeutic chance, there might be a way using it for a change in behaviour regarding the Body Image Disturbance. A link between this disturbance and BA can be established. If BA can be enhanced by the embodiment of a photorealistic avatar is tested. Therefore a study is carried out, testing different constructs of BA and embodiment, manipulating facial and gestic animation in VR. Sadly no differences between the groups could be found, but some interesting chances and possibilities for future work could be found.
