Bad Me: Troublemakers Embodiment

This project is already completed.

Background

This group project aims at extending the Breaking Bad Behaviours (BBB) system.

The BBB system provides an immersive environment to train teacher to different aspects of class room management. The fourth version of the system has been developed during last semester(Video - System Overview).

In this project, the students will have to provide new photorealistic virtual students using our new Embodiment Lab infrastructure facility (i.e. Photogrammetry 3D Scanning, Face & Body Motion Capturing, Sound Recording, 3D Character Modeling and Animating, Game Engine Importing and Testing).

Tasks

The team will be divided in subteams. In collaboration with our partners and supervisors, each subteam will learn how develop their own individualised 3D animated avatars (At least one per subteam with one bad and one good classroom behaviour animations for it).

Each subteam will be composed of four specialits:

  1. Character Modeler (3D mesh and textures - scanning and optimisation)
  2. Body Animator (Body language - motion capture and optimisation)
  3. Face Animator (Facial expression, speech and eyes movement - face tracking and optimisation)
  4. Game Engine Integrator (Importation, test, optimisation)

The success will highly depend on the good synchronisation and cooperation between specialits. The virtual students’ quality will be evaluated by a panel composed of experts, customers, and users.
