Assignment

The bachelor thesis consists of the development of a VR prototyping environment with panoramic photos.

With the recent VR hype, it becomes important create content. This thesis explores the possibility of prototyping VR environments by using 360° photos and augmenting theses special environments with virtual objects. The goal is to develop a method for modeling existing environments in an efficient way and without the need of laboriously 3d representations.

Tasks

A typical use-scenario of the system to develop may consist of the following steps:

• Taking multiple 360° photos of an environment
• Create cubemaps and locate them in that environment
• Allow for placement of virtual objects in the scene that can be seen from the different positions in the visualized environment
