About me
Franziska holds a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Visual Computing and Design from the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, where she specialized in health, sports, and human-centered design. During her studies in 2015, she spent a semester at the Faculty of ICT at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. She then pursued a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Würzburg. For her master thesis, she developed a Brain-Computer Interface that measures brainwaves, classifies emotions, and visualizes affective states in a virtual chat application. In addition, she completed a remote internship with the HIT Lab NZ at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2020.
During her Master studies, Franziska also contributed as a student worker (2019-2020) on projects exploring avatar body perception and social behaviors in virtual environments.
Since November 2020, Franziska has been a research assistant at XR Hub Würzburg, where she organizes events and technical demonstrations, supports industry collaborations, and student projects to connect academic research and practical applications in XR technologies.
Her research investigates how users perceive incongruencies in augmented reality that emerge when merging real-world and virtual content, examining the effects on presence, plausibility, and other quality criteria. Her dissertation, currently under review, is titled ‘Effects of Incongruencies Across the Reality-Virtuality Continuum’.
