AI and eXtended Reality at the Medienstudierendentagung

31 May 2024

The HCI Chair and the PIIS working group recently presented exciting demos at the Medienstudierendentagung (MeStuTa). We showcased the EmbodimentLab, which uses advanced AI and 3D reconstruction to create realistic virtual humans. In Virtually Me, these photorealistic avatars are directly integrated into virtual environments, exploring critical issues of identity and trust. AIL At Work focused on AI skills in the workplace, developing tools to measure and improve these competencies. Additionally, Chairs X and XV presented AI methods for different data types, using “Star Wars” to illustrate text and network data processing. These demos highlighted the innovative research and applications in AI and virtual reality being explored at CAIDAS.

Furthermore, Prof. Marc Erich Latoschik gave a talk titled “Metaverse Reloaded - AI and eXtended Reality.” He discussed the promising opportunities and potential risks of AI and XR, providing insights into their technological, psychological, and sociological implications.
