New funding for the XR-Hub Würzburg

The Free State of Bavaria supports the XR Hub Würzburg with 730,000 € for another two years. Digital Minister Judith Gerlach handed over the funding certificate to the XR Hub Würzburg. At the Winter Expo on February 10th, 2023, University Vice President Matthias Bode expressed his appreciation for the funding, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the region.
The XR Hub Würzburg is located at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU). Its goal is to research and further develop the latest technologies of eXtended Reality (XR), as well as to promote their application possibilities in the economy and the public.
The grant was presented by Digital Minister Judith Gerlach to Professor Dr. Bode, Professor Dr. Marc Latoschik, Chair of Human-Computer Interaction, and Professor Dr. Carolin Wienrich, Chair of Intelligent Interactive Systems.

Winter Expo 2023

Apart from that, Minister Gerlach officially opened the Winter Expo, a public exhibition where students of the degree programs Human-Computer Systems and Human-Computer Interaction present their final projects.
The projects addressed important questions such as whether virtual tourism is the answer to the challenges of climate change, energy crisis, and pandemics, and how a simple paper questionnaire can be redesigned to satisfy the psychological needs of stimulation, autonomy, and competence.
